There’s a growing trend in bringing the country look from the fields to custom-designed homes. This project shows how it’s done. Milled from white pine, this door carries the air of a barn, but still allows for the privacy and protection you want from your front door.
Dark metal hammer strap hinges running along the mullion and rails continue the barn theme. Cross hatches on the bottom panels also remind one of loft doors frequently featured on barns. However, the polished brass door handle and deadbolt lock provide the warmth and protection typical to home entryways. Light plays a big role with these double doors, as carefully designed windows make up the top half of each door. At night, light fixtures signal, “welcome” to passersby.
