The most notable feature of these doors is their size. These split sliding doors run the entire height of the barn wall, allowing for animals and farm equipment of all shapes and sizes to pass through. The doors also serve as a great statement piece for this custom barn as their size draws viewers’ eyes, especially positioned directly adjacent to an average sized man door. Painting the stile and rails of each door adds visual interest and helps integrate the contrasting white pine panels into the overall aesthetic.
Large doors do not necessarily mean heavy doors: the antique track and trolley system makes these doors easy to open and close. The large panes of antique glass in the inlaid windows let in a tremendous amount of light and increase the contrast between the sliding doors and the entry door beside it. The windows keep the barn – which has significant square footage – from getting too dark, without needing to rely on too many interior lights.
